Alistair Begg on the Manhattan Declaration

Here is a very thoughtful and carefully worded post by Alistair Begg concerning the Manhattan Declaration. I could not agree more!

Thanks Nick for posting Alistair Begg’s comments on the Manhattan Declaration. I understand his concerns regarding the document and support him in his convictions. But in fairness to those who did sign the Manhattan Declaration you ought to post a prominent signatory’s defense for his or her signing of the Declaration. I personally find Al Mohler’s reasons for putting his name on the dotted line to be compelling. See: http://www.albertmohler.com/2009/11/23/why-i-signed-the-manhattan-declaration/

    Mr. Alstair,
I thank you for your response. I’m grateful that you would remind us that God is Sovereign! He is not dependent on us to necessariy bring revivals or save people! He only wants us to obey His commands – make diciples by sharing the Good news and He does the rest as He always has done. I also thank you for reminding me that God’s fairness is different from the way we know fair! While there many of us who may recognise bad things and want them to not happen – He alone decides who is spared. So that is why He would not compromise His glory for the sake of salvaging the western culture. He already has given us a plan – preach the only true gospel and those of us who have been spared by it LIVE ACCORDING TO IT It seems that we are more interested to correct and play judges instead of being servants doing what the owner of the vineyard has entrusted us.

Thanks again. I enjoy listening to you on WRJR in Birmingham! Sole Fide
