Sermon Preparation Resources

While it is not characteristic for me to post an unfinshed blog post, I thought that I would do a post-in-progress for those who are interested in finding very specific resources for sermon preparation. I generally read every Reformed sermon I can find in church history, and listen to every sermon I can find by Sinclair Ferguson, Eric Alexander, Derek Thomas and Ian Hamilton. In the weeks ahead I hope to substantially add to this list. It is my desire that you also will find it to be profitable. As far as finding historically Reformed sermons in print, listed in the first three indexes, you will find more research links here.

It is amazing how preachers with little to no influence despise the preachers that have! These three men are examples for any modern day preacher!

    Doug,

I think you’ve missed the point there. It’s not a jealousy thing at all, just all three of the these men pose difficulties in they way they have ministered. And your statements about preachers without influence is interesting: I would have thought that every preacher who preaches faithfully has tremendous influence. If you are talking about another kind of influence… well, you/they are welcome to it.

    Randall,

Nick’s endorsement of these men is not unqualified: he has issues with them all no doubt, but he is recommending them in that in each of them there is value. As I’m told Calvin has said “affirm truth wherever you find it”.

    Matt
