New Dale Ralph Davis Book on Psalms 1-12
Christian Focus has recently released a new work by Dale Ralph Davis. The Way of the Righteous in the Muck of Life is something of a “Psalm Sampler,” covering the first twelve Psalms. The chapters are edited versions of sermons preached on Sunday evenings at Woodland Presbyterian Church, where Dr. Davis is pastor. Many will know that Dr. Davis is one of the PCA’s most recognized Old Testament scholars. He has written commentaries on numerous OT books. These include his commentaries on Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, and 2 Kings. He also has a forthcoming volume on Micah. The only criticism I would raise in regard to The Way of the Righteous in the Muck of Life is that Dr. Davis teaches that every Psalm does not has a Christological focus. I would recommend Richard Belcher’s The Messiah and the Psalms and William Binnie’s The Psalms: their History, Teaching and Use as helpful hermeneutical guides with regard to the Christology of the Psalms. I would also recommend Edmund Clowney’s audio lecture series, “Preaching Christ from the Psalms” part 1 and part 2, and his “Christ in the Psalms” lectures: part 1, part 2, and part 3.
Thanks, Nick.
Again, an extremely helpful post.
Blessings.
Who is Edmuch Clowney? Is he a German theologian?
