The Dawkins Project #1

Tonight I will be meeting with my nieghbor Jason, an artist who lives in Center City Philadelphia, to begin a series of discussions on Richard Dawkins’ book The God Delusion. This is exciting for several reasons. First, I have been trying to reach Jason with the Gospel for several months now and have had a few opportunities to speak to him about the work of Christ. But this was his idea since he sees it as a way for me to explain the message of the Gospel to him without being so personally confrontational. It seems to me that the Holy Spirit is working in his life and I hope that this will turn out for his salvation. Second, you just don’t usually get an opportunity like this. How rare it is for a neighbor to ask you to critic a book for them from a Christian viewpoint. Jason is planning on filming the sessions and then to put them on You Tube. Who knows if anyone will ever watch them but how exciting would it be if he were converted and then others could watch the videos of the way in which the Lord worked in his life. Please pray for me as I minister to Jason. Pray that the Lord will bring him into His kingdom as He brought us into His kingdom. Pray that Jason will ask more questions about the Gospel. Pray that I will not say anything displeasing to the Lord or use a tone that is offensive to others. Praise God for this meeting. Pray that He will be glorified through it.

The meeting went well. Jason and I filmed about an hour long intro to the project. It consisted more of me explaining the gospel to him than anything else. We are scheduled to meet again this Monday (Feb. 4) to work through the first chapter of Dawkins book.

A few days after we met Jason called and said, “I think it went well the other night.” The Lord is definitely at work in Jason’s life. I hope to see him come to Tenth on the night of Feb. 17 to hear me preach. He said he wanted to hear me when I preach next time.

Please pray for Jason’s salvation. I want him to know the Lord but I realize that it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

Thanks for asking how it went. Please pray for this upcoming Monday.
